Interested in volunteering for CalaSCAREus?

Join us in making the CalaSCAREus Film Festival an unforgettable experience for filmmakers, horror enthusiasts, and our community! We are seeking energetic volunteers to contribute their time and skills. No matter your expertise there's a spot for you on our team! We have immediate openings for the following roles, most of which require just 1-2 hours of time each week.

Social Media Specialist

We need your social media expertise to take charge of CalaSCAREus social media presence.
The Social Media Specialist's role will be to:
1) Creatively manage and upload content onto the festival's Facebook page, YouTube, and Instagram accounts.
2) Serve as the point of contact and gatekeeper for members to submit content.
3) Keep the festival's social media presence fresh and up-to-date.

Festival Submissions Manager

All film submissions are done through the Film Freeway Platform.
The Submissions Manager's role is to:
1) Monitor the Film Freeway site for issues or problems.
2) Answer questions from submitters.
3) Track submission and report to the team at monthly meetings.

Festival Public Information Officer (PIO)

In addition to a social media presence, the festival needs to reach out to traditional media outlets, such as local TV, radio, and newspapers.
The Festival PIO's role is to:
1) Issue press releases and news updates to traditional media outlets.
2) Serve as the contract point for media outlets.
3) Solicit and coordinate media coverage (e.g., radio interviews, newspaper articles, purchased advertising).
4) Report progress to the team at monthly meetings.

Festival Liaison

There is an opportunity for Horror Film Festivals to work together because creators often submit their work to many festivals and venues.
The Festival Liaison's role is to contact other film festivals coordinators (focusing first on California and Nevada) in order to:
1) Understand their themes, target audience, and marketing.
2) Look for opportunities for cross promotion and film sharing.
3) Report progress to the team at monthly meetings.

Special Events Planner, Hospitality

If you like to plan parties and social events, we have a challenge for you. An important component of a film festival is the opportunity for filmmakers and fans to connect and build networks.
The Social Events Planner role centers around the festival weekend:
1) Plan and organize with a local business a festival opening mixer Friday evening (October 16th) for filmmakers and attendees.
2) Plan and organize with a local business an "after-party" Saturday night (October 17th) at the close of the festival.

New Filmmakers Network Organizer

Help motivate aspiring new filmmakers to take that first step by organizing and promoting local workshops connecting them with resources, other filmmakers, and learning opportunities.
The New Filmmakers Network Organizer's role will be to:
1) Organize events introducing new filmmakers to local volunteers and resources (equipment, actors, filming locations, CCTV studios, etc.).
2) Promote events through local organizations (e.g., Visitor's Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, paranormal groups, etc.).
